Best Hawaii Beaches for Kids
Mother’s Day is right around the corner! Hawaii is a great destination for a honeymoon or anniversary but it is also a great family destination! As a mother of three I am always looking for fun Hawaii Activities for kids. Kids love Hawaii Luaus, Snorkeling and even learning to surf but the #1 Hawaii Activity for kids is going to the beach! Check out my list of Best Hawaii Beaches for Kids!
Hanauma Bay is the most popular place for Oahu Snorkeling. The calm swimming conditions make it a great family friendly destination. Over 400 different types of tropical fish have been recorded at Hanauma Bay. You may also see other marine life such as Green Sea Turtles and Rays. Hanauma Bay has a large sandy beach kids love. Read more about Hanauma Bay in my post Tips to make the most of Hanauma Bay.
Hapuna Beach is about 30 miles north of Kailua-Kona but it is worth the drive. This stunning beach is about half a mile long and 200 feet wide. This beautiful sandy beach offers room to play, excellent snorkeling and when the surf picks up it is even a great boogie boarding location. The beauty of Hapuna Beach is just one more example of the diversity of the Big Island.
Kaanapali Beach is one of the most popular Maui beaches and often makes the list of “America’s Best Beaches.” The four mile stretch of beach has both beautiful sand as well as a paved beach walk. The beach is lined with beautiful resorts – many with extravagant pools designed with kids in mind. Puu Kekaa, also known as Black Rock, on the northern section of Kaanapali Beach, is a great place to snorkel.
Poipu Beach makes my list because it has something for everyone. Poipu Beach is two beaches in one! The west of Poipu Beach is “Baby Beach” a protected cove perfect for young children. It has calm, shallow waters. There is also a location where older kids can snorkel and boogie board. Poipu Beach even has a grassy area with a playground.
Poipu Beach has a variety of wildlife. You may see an endangered Hawaiian Monk Seal napping on the beach. You may also see Green Sea Turtles in the surf. Be sure to check out my post 5 Things to do in Poipu Kauai.
Happy Mother’s Day
