10 Reasons to be Thankful on Your Hawaii Vacation
Every November I like to reflect on the things I am thankful for. Hawaii gives me a lot of reasons to be thankful. Here are 10 Reasons to be Thankful on your Hawaii Vacation:
1. Majestic Views
Diamond Head Crater, Waimea Bay, Volcanoes National Park, Waipio Valley, Haleakala, Road to Hana, Hanalei Bay, and the NaPali Coast are just a few of the majestic views you can experience on your Hawaii Vacation. There are a variety of ways to take in the Hawaii scenery such as Hiking, Helicopter Tours, Horseback Riding and ATV Tours.
2. Aloha Spirit
The Aloha Spirit is a reference to the friendly attitude famous on Hawaii. Aloha has a deep meaning “the joyful (oha) sharing (alo) of life energy (ha) in the present (alo).” The best thing about the Aloha Spirit is visitors can take this positive energy back to their homes and make a positive impact in their own communities as they share the Aloha Spirit. As you share the Aloha Spirit with others it helps them as well as you.
A luau is a great way to experience a part of Hawaii’s culture. Visitors on a Hawaii Vacation can enjoy the luau experience and feast on traditional luau favorites such as poi, kalua pig, lomi lomi salmon, lau lau and more. The luau feast represents the aloha spirit that brings guests and islanders together. At a luau you are ‘ohana which is the Hawaiian word for family. After the luau feast enjoy spectacular music, dancing and fire!
Hawaii consists of two seasons. Kau (summer) has an average daytime temperature of 85 degrees fahrenheit. Hoolio (winter) has an average daytime temperature of 78 degrees fahrenheit. The water temperature remains a comfortable average of 74 degrees fahrenheit all year long. Hawaii has 11 of the 13 climate zones on Earth. In Hawaii you can experience snow covered mountains, deserts, rain forests and beaches all in one day! The rainfall is highest from November to March but it should not disrupt your Hawaii Vacation. The rain is usually localized so you can almost always find a sunny spot on the island.
5. Aloha Time
Hawaiians operate on Aloha Time. This means that things happen at the time they are meant to happen. Aloha Time allows you to slow down and enjoy life. I know I am often at the mercy of the clock and it often feels like time is passing me by. When I think about Aloha Time I remind myself that I am in the right place at the right time where a divine plan is unfolding. Aloha Time makes it easier to relax on a Hawaii Vacation.
I cannot think of a better place than Hawaii to celebrate family. Whether you are celebrating a new marriage with a honeymoon, an anniversary, or making memories with multiple generations, Hawaii is the best place in the world to do it. Hawaii has something for everyone. It is the perfect place to reconnect with family members, experience new things and make memories for a lifetime.
The food in Hawaii is the best in the world! On Thanksgiving I would take Poke, Pineapple, Kalua Pig and Shave Ice over turkey and dressing any day! Check out my complete list of the Top 10 Foods to eat in Hawaii!
The wildlife in Hawaii is amazing. While you are taking in the majestic views of the Aloha State be sure to look for Hawaii’s wildlife as well. Hawaiian Monk Seals, Humpback Whales, Humuhumunukunukuapua`a (the state Fish of Hawaii) and Dolphins are all beautiful creatures you may see on a snorkel tour, whale watch tour, or a day at the beach. Hawaii also boasts beautiful birds, plants and flowers.
You can’t think of Hawaii without thinking of Surfing. Waikiki is the birthplace of modern surfing. Whether you are learning to surf in Waikiki or taking on big winter swells on the North Shore, Hawaii is a great place for surfing. I highly suggest a surf lesson for everyone on a Hawaii Vacation. Even if you never thought of yourself as a surfer you may find yourself hooked after your first wave!
