Giovannis Shrimp Truck
If you are staying in Waikiki on your Hawaii Vacation I highly recommend getting a Hawaii Rental Car and hitting the North Shore of Oahu. The North Shore is home of famous locations such as Pipeline and Waimea Bay. When on the North Shore of Oahu be sure to stop at Giovannis Shrimp Truck. Giovanni’s is a great place to refuel between Hawaii Tours.
Giovannis is located at 66-472 Kamehameha Hwy, Haleiwa across from McDonalds. It is parked on a piece of property with a few other food trucks and some picnic tables. Giovannis Shrimp truck is so popular it almost always has a line but don’t worry it moves fast.
The Giovannis Shrimp Truck menu consist of 6 items. My favorite is the shrimp scampi which is white shrimp sauteed with olive oil, garlic and lemon/butter. It you like it hot try the hot and spicy shrimp – just be warned there is a no refund policy for those that can’t handle the heat! Another choice is lemon/butter shrimp – shrimp boiled in a lemon and butter sauce. If you want the scampi but not the shrimp try their hot dog cooked and covered in their scampi sauce. You can also add extra rice or mac salad to your order.
The shrimp plates are served with 12 jumbo shrimp and two scoops of rice. Notice that the garlic is poured over the rice as well. I love the shrimp but the garlic rice is equally amazing!
The picnic area next to Giovannis Shrimp Truck provides a fun and relaxing atmosphere.
We also tried the garlic hotdog. I heard people rave about it and wanted to give it a try but I think I will stick with the shrimp and rice from now own.
You can leave your mark on the Giovannis Shrimp Truck. The truck boasts signatures from all over the world.
Be sure to stop by Giovannis Shrimp Truck when you are on the North Shore of Oahu. The only bad thing about the shrimp scampi is the garlic stays with you even after you leave Giovannis Shrimp Truck. We googled how to get rid of the garlic taste and one of the suggestions was to “consume cold foods.” We took the suggestion seriously and headed to Turtle Bay Resort to knock out the garlic with a few lava flows!
