Hawaii Motorcycle Tour
There are so many places to see on Oahu and I was lucky enough to see several of them one morning with Hawaii’s best tour guide, Mitch of MitchHawaii.com. He took me on a private Hawaii Motorcycle Tour.
We started off at the Moana Surfrider in Waikiki and headed past the Duke Kahanamoku Statue.
Our next stop was Mt. Tantalus. As we headed up Round Top Drive we were treated with beautiful panoramic views. We stopped at Puu Ualaokua Park for breathtaking views of Diamond Head, Waikiki, Honolulu and Punch Bowl National Cemetery. Mt. Tantalus is also a great place to take in the sunset and views of the city lights.
Next we headed to Kailua. One of the best kayaking destinations on Oahu is Kailua Bay. Located offshore are three islands that are the perfect destination for kayakers. Popoia Island (also known as Flat Island) is just off Kailua Beach and great for beginners. A little further south are the two Mokulua Islands. Several Oahu kayak tours include a picnic on the sandy shore of Moku Nui.
We stopped at beautiful Kailua Beach. This beach is consistently rated one of the best beaches in America.
Our next destination was Ho’omaluhia Botanical Garden. These lush gardens located in windward Oahu feature plantings from major tropical regions around the world. The name Ho’omaluhia means “a peaceful refuge.”
Finally we zipped along the H-3, one of the most expensive Interstate Highways ever built. The final cost of this highway was $1.3 billion or approximately $80 million per mile. The H-3 runs along a viaduct through Halawa Valley to Tetsuo Harano Tunnels through the Ko’olau Mountains. It leads into the town of Kaneohe and then to the main gate of the Hawaii Marine Corps Base.
Check out the video with Highlights of the Motorcycle Tour including the spectacular views from the H-3.
Finally we made our way back to Waikiki. I had a great morning exploring Oahu on a Hawaii Motorcycle Tour. Mitch was a great guide! If you would like to learn the secrets of Hawaii from an expert be sure to check out Mitch’s Tour: Waterfalls and Sacred Sites of Oahu (the transportation for the Waterfalls and Sacred Sites of Oahu Tour is a comfortable tour van.)
