Hawaii Restaurants – Sansei Sushi
There are several things that just go together – “peanut butter and jelly”, “cookies and cream” and “Hawaii and sushi.” Not only can you find fresh sushi all over Hawaii you can also find spam musabi in most convenience stores for a quick meal to go! If spam musabi is not your style and you want the real thing stop by one of my favorite Hawaii Restaurants – Sansei Seafood Restaurant and Sushi Bar!
Sansei Sushi is one of the best Hawaii Restaurants. Our favorite nights to go are on Sundays and Mondays when they offer half price food from 5:30-6:00pm! Only 110 people get in for the early bird special so we arrived at the Oahu location of Sansei Sushi in the Marriott at 4:20pm. We took our place in line (we were 7th) and by 4:30pm the line was already 25 people long! They started letting people in around 5:15pm.
We sat down at our our table and immediately ordered ocean salads and Panko-Crusted Fresh Ahi Sashimi (Sashimi grade Hawaiian ahi, arugula & spinach wrapped into a sushi roll, panko-crusted, flash-fried and served with Sansei’s mild soy wasabi butter sauce) It came out quickly and we promptly ordered more.
All orders must be placed by 6:00 to qualify for half price. I think we got a little carried away but had fun trying all sorts of different things – after all it was half price at one of our favorite Hawaii Restaurants so why not?
All food is 50% off during the Sansei Sushi Early Bird special so we tried a variety of things not just sushi. I loved the Maui Style Teriyaki Beef.
Crispy Calamari Tempura
The food just kept coming and we realized we may have ordered to much.
We had some leftovers but we tried everything!
I made room for Shrimp Dynamite – Crispy tempura shrimp tossed with creamy garlic masago aioli and drizzled with an unagi glaze.
Our sushi extravaganza at Sansei Seafood Restaurant and Sushi Bar was delicious! The Early Bird Special made it fun to try new things. I knew I would enjoy the “safe bets” such as the Spider Roll: Crispy tempura soft shell crab, cucumber and daikon sprouts with sweet Thai chili sauce and a rich unagi glaze and the Caterpillar Roll: Fresh unagi rolled inside out and wrapped with creamy avocado, topped with masago and unagi glaze. The only thing I was hesitant about eating was the quail egg in tobiko but I am glad I tried it – I mean how often do you get to eat an egg in eggs?
This is the damage we did for just two people! We had so much sushi I needed to roll out of there!
If you are looking for one of the best Hawaii Restaurants be sure to try Sansei Seafood Restaurant and Sushi Bar. They have locations on Oahu, Maui and the Big Island. Sansei Sushi was named “One of America’s eight best sushi restaurants” by Travel + Leisure! If you have time on a Sunday or Monday I highly recommend taking advantage of the Early Bird Special. You have to arrive early and get in line but it is worth it and your taste buds will thank you!
