I was thrilled when I found out that one of my favorite Hawaii Surfers, Tatiana Weston-Webb, won the gold at the ISA World Junior Surfing America Championships in Nicaragua. There were 320 competitors and 30 countries represented at this event.
Tatiana Weston-Webb dominated all week at the at the ISA World Junior Surfing America Championships in Nicaragua and won the Gold Medal.
“Getting the gold here in Nicaragua this year means so much to me; I wanted it so bad,” said the new Girls Under-18 World Champion. “It has been my goal for a really long time, I’m super happy. It was a really long and hard week. Our team stayed focused on being a family during the whole contest, and I think that was our advantage. I’m really psyched to have a Gold Medal; I don’t have any words to describe it.” –SurfingMagazine.com
I was lucky enough to get to spend a few hours with Tatiana in April and she even took me surfing!
We surfed near the St. Regis Princeville on Kauai. Tatiana is a professional surfer and I am an absolute beginner but she was a great teacher! She was very patient with me and we had a blast!
As we paddled back to catch another wave I love how calm and relaxed Tatiana is while I look exhausted.
Tatiana was born in Brazil and raised on Kauai. She loves to surf and have a good time! She was a stunt-double on the set of Soul Surfer for Bethany Hamilton. Some of her wins include Rip Curl International GromSearch Champion ’11 & ’12, Pipe Jr Pro Champ ’12, USA National Champion ’09 ’10 ’11 & ’12, NSSA Explorer Women National Champion ’12, NSSA Explorer Girls National Champion ’11, Women’s Pipe Champion (youngest winner at age 14) and RipCurl GromSearch National Champ ’11 & ’12.
I was slow getting up but I felt really cool surfing with not only a Professional Surfer but someone as great as Tatiana Weston-Webb.
Thank you to Tatiana Weston-Webb, one of my favorite Hawaii Surfers, for taking time out of her day to surf with me. She is beautiful inside and out. I am so happy for her recent win at the ISA World Junior Surfing America Championships and I know this is just the beginning for her! I can’t wait to see what the future hold for this talented Hawaii Surfer!
