From December to the beginning of May is the season for Whale Watching in Hawaii. These majestic giants travel from the gulf of Alaska to Hawaii to mate, give birth and care for their young.
Humpback whales weigh up to 45 tons. Despite their weight they are known for their intriguing and acrobatic behaviors. To see graceful humpback whales breach by propelling out of the ocean is an amazing experience.
Hawaii Whale Watching

On Saturday, February 26, 2011 the Pacific Whale Foundation held the Great Maui Whale Count. Volunteers and researchers for the Great Maui Whale Count tallied 1,607 sightings of humpback whales from Maui’s shorelines from 8:30 am – 11:55 am. The numbers show that the humpback whale population in the North Pacific is increasing by 7-8% a year.
