Hawaiian Words
One of Hawaii Discount’s favorite places to shop is the Hawaii ABC Store. They have everything you need in one shop! Plus, especially on Oahu, you can usually find a Hawaii ABC Store on every block. From sunscreen, Hawaiian Isles Water, Hawaii macadamia nuts, Hawaii souvenirs, dashboard hula girls, ukuleles and Hawaii t-shirts – the Hawaii ABC Store has it all! I was looking for a book of Hawaiian Words and this treasure was found at the Hawaii ABC Store.
The Little Book of Aloha by Renata Provenzano is one of my favorite purchases from the Hawaii ABC Store. This book has 34 Hawaiian Proverbs. These Hawaiian Words reflect the beliefs of Hawaiian culture.
Some of my favorite Hawaiian Words, Hawaiian Proverbs and Inspiration from The Little Book of Aloha include:
‘A’OLE E ‘OLELO MAI ANA KE AHI UA ANA IA Fire will never say that it has had enough The fire of love or anger will burn as long as you are feeding it. Fuel your energy to create the life you want.
‘A’A I KA HULA, WAIHO KA HILAHILA I KA HALE When one wants to dance the hula, bashfulness should be left at home. Live with passion. Do not fear change – embrace it!
‘A’OHE PU’U KI’EKI’E KE HO’A'O ‘IA E PI’i No cliff is so tall it cannot be climbed We all face problems in life but every problem has a solution. Remember that life is a gift and believe in yourself.
‘A’OHE LOKOMAIKA’I I NELE I KE PANA’I No kind deed has ever lacked its reward. This is one of my favorite Hawaiian proverbs. The Hawaiian culture gets it right with their generosity, hospitality and nature of sharing. One reason so many people love their Hawaii Vacations is because they experience the Aloha Spirit. When you live with Aloha you have a giving nature without expecting anything in return. You do not need to be in Hawaii to share the Aloha spirit. I challenge you to do something nice and unexpected for someone today!
WELA KA HAO! Strike while the iron is hot! In the hustle and bustle of life today it is easy to procrastinate but when opportunity knocks, answer the door. Don’t leave until tomorrow what can be done today.
Hawaiian words and Hawaiian proverbs are an important part of the Hawaiian culture. Be sure to check out The Little Book of Aloha by Renata Provenzano at your bookstore or Hawaii ABC store.
