Disney is opening a new resort on Oahu in the fall of 2011. Aulani Disney Resort and Spa boasts 21 acres of beachfront property in the Ko Olina Resorts and Marine Development.
In anticipation of Aulani Disney Resort and Spa in Oahu, we took a trip to Orlando, Florida to experience Walt Disney World. We had a great time and made lasting memories. As we soaked up the Disney World magic we enjoyed noting the various references to .
We stayed at the Wilderness Lodge which is a short and scenic boat ride away from The Magic Kingdom. On the first morning we entered The Magic Kingdom and went straight to the beloved ride, Dumbo. Later in the morning we experienced the classic ride “” We enjoyed the ride especially the section dedicated to Polynesia.
We spent the day enjoying rides all over the Magic Kingdom. Our family favorites ended up being Space Mountain and the Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. We took a break for snacks in Adventureland and enjoyed a refreshing Dole Whip which made me feel like I was at Dole Plantation.
At the end of the day we jumped on the monorail and headed to the Polynesian Resort for dinner at the Kona Cafe. Not only is the Polynesian Resort a beautifully themed hotel but it is very convenient with a monorail stop at the hotel. Disney’s Polynesian Resort is also the location of a nightly Disney World Luau, Spirit of Aloha Dinner Show. We enjoyed walking around the grounds and the kids got a kick out of the volcano at the pool. It was fun to see the guests wearing flower lei greetings. We enjoyed our dinner of seafood and steak but the highlight of the meal was the banana creme brûlée for dessert.
Our first day at Disney World was a success! Mickey Mouse was a fantastic host! After spending a day in the Magic Kingdom I can’t wait to see what they have planned for the Aulani Disney Resort and Spa in Oahu. It will be a welcome addition to the island’s beautiful Oahu hotels!
Have you been to the Magic Kingdom? What was your favorite ride?
