Kauai Kayak Tours

Hawaii Discount woke up bright and early for our 7am Kauai Kayak Tour with Rainbow Kayaks.  We were excited for our Kauai Kayak adventure on the Wailua River with a hike to Secret Falls.

After check in we headed to the launch point and started our journey. It was a quiet and peaceful morning on the Wailua river. I enjoyed taking in the beautiful Kauai sights from the water.

The Wailua River was the center of activity for ancient Hawaiians. It is known as one of the two most sacred places in Hawaii. In fact it is said that at night you can still hear ancient drums.

We had a small group and had fun getting to know each other as we kayaked the Wailua River, the only navigable river in Hawaii.

After kayaking for about 2 miles we reached the trail head for Secret Falls. We brought the kayaks to shore and began the next leg of our adventure – Kauai hiking.  Our knowledgeable guide stopped to tell us about the different plants as well as the rich Hawaiian history and legends of the Wailua Valley.

At one point we had to take off our shoes and traverse a stream with the assistance of a rope.

The sights on the hike were amazing! I enjoyed experiencing another beautiful side of Kauai.

We made it to Secret falls also known as Uluwehi Falls or Sacred Falls. Secret Falls is a 120 ft bridal veil waterfall.

The water was cold but I decided to brave it and swam in the cool water and under the waterfall. It was awesome being under Secret Falls.

While we were swimming and exploring the area our Rainbow Kayaks guide set a beautiful display for our delicious lunch.

Kauai is known for its roosters. Kauai Roosters are everywhere and Secret Falls was no exception.

After lunch we began our scenic Kauai hike back to the kayaks.

We stopped at a rope swing and we took turns swinging into the water.

We made it back to our kayaks and paddled back to our starting point.

The Wailua River Kauai Kayak tour was one of the best Hawaii activities I have experienced! The kayak portion was leisurely and the views from the Wailua River were magnificent. The hike was an extra treat! To see so many different sides of Kauai was amazing! The swim in the scenic pool and Secret Falls was an unforgettable experience.

We actually had a family with 3 generations in our group and they all thoroughly enjoyed it.
