Mama’s Fish House
One of the best Maui Restaurants is Mama’s Fish House! After a busy day of Maui Activities we headed to this popular restaurant for dinner.
Mama’s Fish House is located on a beautiful beach so be sure to arrive early to walk around a take a few photos.
The view from our table was spectacular!
After studying the drink menu I decided on the Mai Tai Roa Ae. Mai Tai Roa Ae is Tahitian for “The Best” and it certainly was on of the best Mai Tais I have had!
We started with a few popular Mama’s Fish House appetizers. The Beef Polynesian, seared tenderloin in a grilled ripe Hana papaya, was delicious!
We also enjoyed ono marinated in lime and coconut milk, (Tahitian Ceviche) in a fresh coconut.
For my entree I ordered one of the signature dishes of Mama’s Fish House – “Mahimahi caught along the north shore of Maui by Mike Holley”. The delicious Mahimahi was unlike any I have ever tasted – I savored each bite of the stuffed fish with lobster & crab and baked in a macadamia nut crust. When choosing an entree the menu was specific about where the fish was caught and even who caught it: “Broadbill Swordfish caught during the moonlit night by Billy Wakefield” “Deep-water Ahi caught ten miles offshore from Hana by Matt Smith” “Ono caught trolling in the Alenuihaha Channel by Shawn Conners.” Other entrees include Island Prawns Polynesian, Wild Caught Lobster Tail, Crispy Kalua Duck, Prime Beef Short Ribs “Pulehu” and Prime Tenderloin Steak. You can check out sample menus at the Mama’s Fish House Website.
One of the toughest things to do at Mama’s Fish House is to save room for dessert BUT it has to done so you can experience the Polynesian Black Pearl. This dessert of Liliko’i chocolate mousse in a pastry seashell was amazing! Other than a Hawaii Shave Ice here or there I don’t normally eat much dessert but not only did I love the presentation of the Polynesian Black Pearl but it tasted even better than it looked! If you take anything away from this blog post it should be save room for dessert at Mama’s Fish House!
So did Mama’s Fish House live up to the hype as one of the Best Maui Restaurants? Absolutely! With that said, because of the popularity of Mama’s Fish House, reservations are a must! They make it easy and you can even reserve a table online!
The only negative about Mama’s Fish House is the price. The entrees are expensive but you can taste the quality. With the money you save ordering Maui Activities from Hawaii Discount I think lunch or dinner at Mama’s Fish House is worth the spurge!
