For over 20 years Chief Sielu was a main attraction at the Polynesian Cultural Center where he was the featured fire knife dancer in their evening show. He is widely regarded as the best Polynesian entertainer in Hawaii.
Chief Sielu has appeared on Late Night with David Letterman, The Tonight Show, Discovery Channel, Travel Channel, MTV, BBC and Oprah Winfrey. Chief Sielu threw the flaming spear that ignited the Olympic torch at a ceremony in Salt Lake City! He starred in the movie Chief which was featured at the Sundance Film Festival.
The Chief’s Official Formal Title is “Malietoa Tauasa Folo Sielu Avea.” This title was given to him by the Head of State of Samoa. The honor of becoming a Chief is received from knowledge of the culture, supporting the leaders and working with the community.
