Pearl Harbor Tours
Hawaii Discount offers some of the best Pearl Harbor Tours in Oahu. This is an unforgettable and must see tour that begins with a visit to the Arizona Memorial commemorating the victims of the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor which occurred on December 7th, 1941.
The visitor exhibits provide many historic details about the attack and memorialize the hundreds of American servicemen entombed in the sunken battleship underneath the site. Even today, you can see oil escaping the vessels below the Pearl Harbor Memorial. Within the grounds of Pearl Harbor are a number of exhibits, displays, memorials, and museums, honoring not only the nearly 1200 victims of the Japanese attacks, but all of those who served in World War II. Built over the wreckage of the USS Arizona, the Memorial is a sobering experience where visitors to Hawaii come to pay their respects.
If you choose, you will visit the Punchbowl National Cemetery, which is the final resting place for those who died in service to their country. The beauty and serenity of the cemetery’s rolling green hills and lush foliage offer a backdrop for quiet reflection. The final stage of Pearl Harbor Tours is a narrated tour of downtown Honolulu. You’ll see the impressive state buildings and churches. You’ll also see Iolani Palace and King Kamehameha Statue. Some Pearl Harbor Tours are combined with many of the top sites around the island of Oahu such as the North Shore Oahu, the Polynesian Cultural Center, and a driving tour through downtown Honolulu’s historic district.
Jenifer’s reflection on her time at Pearl Harbor:
We were taken by boat to see the Arizona Memorial. It was the most emotional part of my trip to Hawaii. It was mind blowing. You will get to see the top of the ship on both sides of the memorial. You can see oil coming up from the ship still to this day and the members all say it is the “tears of the fallen ones.” It was very emotional. The back of the memorial is the names of those who gave their lives on December 7, 1941. We were told that just a few days before they held a service for one of the few survivors who died, and was placed back with his shipmates.
