Red Salt – Best Kauai Restaurants
After a day experiencing Kauai Activities, we decided to spend the evening enjoying a nice dinner at Poipu’s Red Salt. Located in the Koa Kea Resort, Red Salt is one of the most popular Kauai Restaurants.
Red Salt gets it name from the famous Kauai salt sun dried at ponds in Hanapepe Town near Salt Pond Beach. One of the highlights of the evening was the delicious bread served with butter and … wait for it… red salt! The flavor of the red salt was unique and delicious. I enjoyed the red salt so much I bought some to use at home.
We started with the famous Red Salt Poke appetizer. This appetizer looked as good as it tasted. It was a checkerboard of ahi and walu on top of Japanese cucumber. I often order poke at Kauai Restaurants and this is the most visually appealing as well as the best tasking poke I have had on Kauai.
Next we tried the Togarashi Crusted Seared Ahi. The ahi was very good especially when paired with the Island Orange Reduction.
For my entree I ordered the Pan Seared Ono with King Crab and Yukon Gold Hash, Sake-Spiced Coconut Broth. This was a rich and creamy dish that melted in my mouth! I highly recommend the Ono and will order it again next time I visit Red Salt.
There are 3 words that I never realized went together so perfectly: Pineapple. Cotton. Candy. This tasty creation was a great way to top off a delicious meal.
We ended the evening with some cocktails at the bar. I ordered my usual, a Mai Tai. Each bar in Kauai has their own twist on the Mai Tai and Red Salt was no exception. Everyone enjoyed their cocktails and the laid back atmosphere of Red Salt
If you are looking for a excellent meal with friendly service at one of the best Kauai Restaurants be sure to make a reservation at Red Salt.
