I get a lot of questions about being a Travel Blogger so I decided to take you behind the scenes of my Hawaii Discount Blog and give you my Top Travel Blog Tips.

1. Be armed with a camera at all times!

You never know when a the perfect photo opportunity is going to strike! You always have to be ready to get the shot!

2. Check something off of your bucket list

You are more likely to enjoy writing about something that you have always wanted to do. On my bucket list – swim under a beautiful cascading waterfall! I did this on a Kauai Kayaking and Hiking Tour. It wasn’t as glamorous as I had imagined. The cool temperature of the water literally took my breath away but when presented the opportunity to swim under a 125 ft. waterfall in Hawaii I had to do it!

3. Step out of your comfort zone.

I was a little nervous before my first helicopter flight. Now Hawaii Helicopter Tours are at the top of my list! If I had not stepped out of my comfort zone I would have never experienced the amazing perspective you can get of the islands from Hawaii Helicopter Tours.

4. Find out about events in the locations you are blogging about

Hawaii Five-0 Premiere

In September Waikiki hosts the season premiere for hit television show Hawaii Five-0.  This event includes a red carpet. The stars of Hawaii Five-0 are gracious and take time to talk to their fans. I even got the autograph of Terry O’Quinn, one of my favorite stars of Lost. (Click here to read about the Hawaii Five-0 season premiere).

5. Make new friends

When traveling to a new place the best way to learn about the culture is by making friends with the locals. If you are on a tour make the effort to be friendly with the other guests on the tour. It is fun to swap travel stories and other travelers often have great tips on things to see in the area.

6. Enjoy Local Food

One of the best things about traveling is trying new foods. Not only will you discover some new favorite flavors but local food can give you great material to write about. I even tried a quail egg shot simply so I could write about it on my travel blog!

7. You Can Never Have To Many Cameras

My arsenal of cameras includes a Nikon D300, an Olympus Underwater Camera, IPhone and Flip Video Camera. I have been known to use 2 cameras simultaneously. Travel Bloggers know there is nothing worse than missing a shot. I like having both high quality still shots and video so I am often alternating between the two.

8. Have Fun!

The best part of traveling is having fun! Don’t worry about creating the perfect travel blog post. If you relax and have fun the travel blog will be much easier to write!
