Yesterday I watched a new show on the Travel Channel called Trip Flip. This show takes 2 travelers and turns an ordinary vacation into an extraordinary vacation as they experience the ultimate Maui Activities.

I heard about this show a few months ago when they were doing a casting call. The Travel Channel casting call was looking for tourists that had already planned a Maui Vacation and would be willing to give up their vacation plans in order to be filmed and participate in the Maui Activities chosen by the show. The Travel Channel plays it off that the lucky couple was randomly chosen off the streets of LA for a spur of the moment vacation but I have learned that “reality tv” is not always reality.  One thing that was realistic about Trip Flip was they featured some of the best Maui Activities. Blue Hawaiian Helicopter Tour

The couple experienced a Maui Helicopter Tour with Blue Hawaiian Helicopters.  Over 75% of Maui is inaccessible due to extreme terrain and rainforests. The only way to see these breathtaking sights is with a Maui helicopter tour. Not only did the couple on Trip Flip see beautiful sights and stunning waterfalls but they also flew through a gorgeous rainbow.

Goofy Foot Surf School

Although they had never surfed both Stephen and Claire got up and rode some waves during their Goofy Foot Surf School Lesson. Claire described her Maui Surf Lesson as “exhilarating!”

Mama’s Fish House

Stephen and Claire took a break from their Maui Activities and had lunch at one of Maui’s most popular restaurants, Mama’s Fish House. Executive Chef Perry Bateman prepared Island Prawns, Mahi Mahi stuffed with crab and Grilled Opah. For desert they shared the Polynesian Black Pearl Liliko’i chocolate mousse in a pastry seashell.

Surfing Goat Dairy

Surfing Goat Dairy is located on the slopes of Maui’s Haleakala Crater. After tasting an assortment of award winning goat cheese they were put to work herding and milking the goats.

Atlantis Submarine Tour

The last Maui Activity for Stephen and Claire was the Atlantis Submarine Tour. They journeyed 100 ft below sea level and saw two reefs and a shipwreck. Not only did they get to experience the underwater sights but they each had a chance to pilot the sub. From the Trip Flip footage this seemed to be their favorite Maui Activity.

Best Maui Activities

I thought the Travel Channel did a great job showing some of the best Maui Activities. With less than 30 minutes to work with they showed some of the best the Maui has to offer. I will admit that the filming of Trip Flip did not do the beauty of Maui justice. The intense beauty of the island is best experienced first hand.
